Students learn the basics of setting up an actual archaeological dig and how to carefully excavate a site. Western Pennsylvania history comes alive as students unearth artifacts, clean what they have found, and try to identify these clues to the past. The current dig site has been the site of human activity for hundreds of years. There is evidence of Native American, as well as pioneer, activity. In order to preserve the integrity of this archaeological site, the group size is limited.Price per child is $9.00. As space is limited only pre-payment will hold your spot. There will be a table set up to take registration and payment in the first floor hallway during 1st period and in the annex during lunch the next 2 Pals Wednesdays. Payment can also be mailed to: Bethany Thornton, 5004 Windover Drive, Robinson PA, 15205. Payment and registration must be received no later than Friday, April 1st. Payment is not refundable but is transferable to another family if you have to cancel.Plan on bringing lunch, snacks and plenty of water as there are no such facilities at Lutherlyn. You do not have to attend with your child but you must designate a “responsible adult” on-site for them and share that information with the field trip coordinators. Dress appropriately, we’ll be in the big outdoors and plan on getting dirty!
